Decide what fits first
- Get a floor plan of the new home and measure the key pieces.
- Decide room by room what goes, what goes to family, what is sold or donated.
- Label anything going to a different destination clearly and separately.
Pace the packing
- Start several weeks early with rooms used least.
- Consider a part-packing service for kitchens and fragile items.
- Keep medications, documents and daily essentials together and with you.
Set up the new home on day one
Ask the removalist to reassemble and place beds and key furniture first, so the first night in the new home is comfortable rather than surrounded by boxes.
